A little past midnight
Amidst the noise and firecrackers
We were watching the fireworks display that was going a bit wrong. Since it was drizzling here at Bataan, instead of the fireworks shooting high up in the sky, a lot of it just went a few feet up and came plummeting back down and exploding there. Ducking for cover (since we were near where the firecrackers started falling), two of my cousins (girl - 14, guy - 19), my aunt and I went under the roof outside of our neighbor's house. When the fireworks finished, we suddenly heard booms and cracks below us. There were firecrackers beside our feet! Firecrackers of different kind. Piccolo and Super Lolos. We ran again for safety or else we'd get injured. LOL. Before running for cover for the second time though, we stared at the firecrackers first even though we knew what they were already. :| :))
If that wasn't enough, let me tell you about a near death experience. No joke!
About half past midnight
The streets were silent and our neighbors (different from the first story because we were already able to transfer houses) were setting off a fountain firework
The excitement of the New Year has died down but there are still those who are lighting up fireworks. We just arrived at our other house (like I mentioned earlier), and got the car parked inside. I and two of my younger cousins (boy - 6, girl - 14) saw our neighbors lighting a fountain firework. We stood outside the gates of our house waiting for it to go off. A minute passed, then two, and so on until we got impatient since it was taking seriously long. We finally decided to step back inside the house but the gate was still opened because we were still hoping that the fountain would set-off. It was a wise move for us to do. About five minutes after we came in, a whizzing image suddenly passed by us. It was a really fast moving firetruck! It was only inches away from where we were standing since we were still quite near outside. It almost hit us! Good thing it didn't but it did hit the outer wall of our house, the piping connecting our source of water and the house beside us, two tricycles, the flower bed of our neighbor and the cement covering the canal! What a welcome to 2009. I'm seriously thankful to God that we weren't hit. If we didn't go back inside the house... I don't wanna think about what would've happened to the three of us. I'm just guessing that 2009 will be full of surprises for me. Oh well... Bring it on! :)) *sigh* The very thought of it makes me feel... I don't know how to explain it but really, I am very thankful to God. I can't thank Him enough.
Okay. So those two (especially the last one I just shared) were the two most memorable events that happened as I welcomed the New Year. XD THANK YOU to all of you who have shared happy and sad memories with me this 2008. I hope we can still make more memories together this 2009. :) I love you all! :*
Beware of firecrackers and firetrucks! :))
